precious, precious sleep.
This week we've been brave and moved Sydney to her room to sleep at night. The first couple nights were sleepless...for me anyway. I laid and listened to her every move on the monitor, checked her several times, and still spent most of the night wondering if she was too hot, too cold, still breathing, swaddled tight enough but not too tight, etc. Each night has been easier. Josh and Sydney haven't seemed phased by any of it.
This morning, I woke up and looked at the clock. It was 7:30 a.m. and Sydney was still sleeping (she went to bed around 11:45 p.m. and I was out by 12:15 a.m.). I knew she was ok, because I heard the normal movements and random noises just seconds before, it is what woke me up. So I laid there for a few minutes, basking in the glory of getting over 7 hours of uninteruppted sleep. I made myself breakfast, a cup of coffee, her a bottle....and got her just before she started fussing around 8:00 a.m. If only every evening/morning could be like this. This was a morning of feeling rested, of peace and quiet, of watching the sun come up in the midst of many clouds, of many smiles and coos after she had her breakfast, and another hour of quiet when she went back to sleep. This was my favorite kind of morning because nothing beats a good cup of coffee, a happy baby, and a peaceful start to my day :)
Sidenote#1: In the picture above, you can see that somehow Sydney gets from where the "positioner" is (it's one of those things that helps keep them on their back while they sleep), to the foot of the bed each night. We have a squirmy baby!
Sidenote#2: That is her new/improved swaddle blanket. She grew out of the other one so I altered a blanket we had and made it the same pattern as the one we were borrowing from a friend. I have to say...I'm pretty proud of my creativity and excited that it actually works!
