she's here :)

Well, our girl has finally arrived!!! She was born on Thursday, Decemeber 27th at 4:59 a.m. She weighed 7 lbs and 4 oz and measured 19.5 inches. Everything went well and she is perfect :) All three of us are doing great....just trying to recover and get rest! Below are some pictures and we'll post videos soon....

making progress...

We just got back from our latest doctor's appointment. Everything is still right on track. Her heartbeat is perfect, her size is good, and the doctor said I've run out of room (like I needed him to tell me that ;). Nothing big to report but progress is happening whether I realize it or not. He examined me and said that I'm 1/2 cm dialated and about 70% effaced and that her head is extremely low (I'd explain what those things mean, but if you don't know I'll let you research it on your own so I don't gross anyone out :) ) This basically means what we already knew, that I could go into labor today or 3 weeks from today. It is encouraging to know that all the "braxton hicks" contractions I've been having are actually doing something and not just making me incredibly uncomfortable. So all in all, no real news but progress is happening....finally!

I've just recently hit the point that I am really...I mean really ready to be done. I'm barely sleeping at night and the littlest tasks have seemed impossible the last few days. I thought being off of work would be great, and it is, but I may go stir crazy if I have to wait too much longer :)

Well, we'll keep everyone updated...in the meantime we're just going to enjoy our moments of peace and quiet while we have them :)

37 weeks, officially full term...

It is official. I have reached full term which means that our little girl could be born healthy any day now. It is weird to think that we could have her anytime between right now and January 16th (which is 2 wks past our due date and they typically induce if you go that long....let's all pray I don't go that long!). That seems like such a long gap of time. I think Josh and I are both as ready as we are ever going to be so she is welcome to come any time. We went to the doctor yesterday and all is well and right on track. Dr. said that we now have entered the waiting stage....so I guess we'll do just that, wait :)

It's been kind of a busy/big week for us. Today was my last day of work which is so strange and has not hit me yet. The company I work for closes for the holidays today. It didn't seem like my last day because we were all saying our "goodbyes". But I am SO very thankful to be done. The days were starting to feel VERY long as I'm not really sleeping at night. So, bring on the time to rest....I'm ready for it!

Also, Josh switched Real Estate companies this week. There is a guy in a nearby town that opened his own branch and was offering MUCH better commission than Josh was getting at his other place. So he is now officially a Realtor under Dan Rader Real Estate as of Wednesday. Since the switch Josh has already been able to help a friend get a house under contract and list another house here in town....this is such a great move for us so it has been something we've been thankful for and celebrating all week.

Another exciting thing, a couple of friends here just had their baby girl, Elisa, last night. Our friends Greg and Carolyn have kind of been our "partners in pregnancy". Carolyn was 4 weeks ahead of me and they are our age and married for the same length of time as Josh and I. It has been fun to have someone to go through this experience with and we are SO excited to go meet their little one tonight. It makes me that much more excited to meet our daughter!!

Well, I hope you all are doing well. We will keep you updated as we have any updates to give. Just a heads up, my sister Holly is going to be sending out an "announcement" email when our little one does arrive so if you don't think I have your email and would like to be on that list...just let me know. Happy Friday to you all!

let's get this blog party started...

Well, I've been thinking about starting a blog for a long time just to keep friends and family updated on what is going on in our lives. I'm not sure if anyone will read this but I figure it's worth a shot and may be a great way to keep more people updated once our little one arrives. So consider this the first, and maybe least exciting, window into Josh and I's life. I'll try to post pictures as we have them. Check out the slideshows to see the latest pictures of our house and a short timeline of my belly's growth. I think if you click on them you can view the pictures bigger in a new window. The house is a work in progress but Josh has done a phenomenal job of fixing it up and making it "home". Until next time....
