a different kind of week...

Well, first of all here are some pictures of our precious daughter :)

This has been a different kind of week than we expected. Poor Sydney has been struggling through jaundice. A normal thing for a newborn to have, but her numbers have been sort of high. Jaundice is basically when there is too much bilirubin in their blood. It causes a yellow coloring to the skin. So...we were back in the hospital last Wednesday to Friday for some "phototherapy" which is basically just her laying under bright lights for hours at a time with her eyes covered. This is the best thing to help her process the bilirubin out of her system. When we left Friday her numbers were low and we were encouraged. Then, we got a call yesterday after our Dr. appointment saying that her numbers had climbed back up just a bit. We go get tested again tomorrow morning to see if we've been able to get it to drop a little. So not a huge deal but, if you think of it pray for Sydney as this is just a series of uncomfortable things for her. This isn't anything too abnormal for a newborn but it just means that she has to have her heel pricked a lot for blood tests, laid under lights or sunlight, and just not getting to enjoy her first couple weeks at home.

Other than the jaundice, she is doing fabulous. We've had a good few days at home with her and her Nana (Linde's mom) just enjoying each other. She is a good baby...very alert. We love watching her make funny faces and discover the world around her. One thing is for sure, she is one STRONG baby. If we hold her on our chest she lifts her head up and she's got quite the punch and kick going on :)

Hope all of you are doing well! Untill next time.....
